Yes, I do know that the Upper() would make a difference. In my case all three fields are key fields and entries are in upper case only.
I really don't know what the problem was (or if they really had a problem) but once I added two more fields to the WHERE expression, the time for the query went down considerably. A few minutes ago I talked to the customer and we timed it (while I was on the telephone), and it took 3 seconds.
So, I can rest this weekend <g> (I am kidding, of course, I never rest <g>).
