The Common Dialog positions itself below and to the right of the window that calls it. What I did was to create a small form that contained the control that I could position as desired.

In retrospect, however, I wonder if the "view is worth the climb". In order to center it, you have to take into account the screen resolution and the size of the dialog itself. Further, you would not be emulating the standard Windows behavior.
