> Want to get opinions on the near future of Web (Client/Server) development. Do you think we will be going the route of Java/J++ or stay more towards HTML/ActiveX? I was at a MS conference recently, and when it came to internet stuff, they were pushing ActiveX in a big way. I don't think I ever heard the word "Java". They had some impressive stuff. However, you still have to worry about who has what browser. The standards have depreciated a little bit. Thus it's kinda hard to say right now. However, since MS will rule the world, I think it's fair to say they will EVENTUALLY dominate the browser market. Thus, what ever they are pushing would be the best (not always technically best, mind you (s)) to study for the long run. However, I can't figure out how long that "long run" will be..... I haven't seen very much DB C/S stuff doen in Java. A lot of it is 4GL scripting stuff, and things like this site.... HTH, Scot.
