>I don't know about that. We seem to release a lot due to overcrowding and many don't even get incarcerated nowadays due to jail crowding. Our local county jail has mistakenly released the wrong person 5 times in one year alone:

Fear mongering - remember all those stories about murder and rape in New Orleans Superdome - it never happened. But it sure got the racists to watch faux TV! The real criminals in NOLA, as it turns out, were the policeman. I wonder if NOLAPD means New Orleans Looting and Assaulting Police Department:)

When US policy makers talk about education spending - they're not talking about higher pay for teachers, more teachers, better books or smaller class rooms - they're talking about pouring concrete and building schools - teachers and students are the last to get benefits.

Look at the people who sit on the school board in your district. My Home Owners association finally voted not to allow developers (builders not software:) sit on the board. You should fight for that in your school district.

It's the same way with prisons - money for political supporters that make a living pouring concrete in the public works sector.

Most of the inmate population is in for smoking pot or chemical addictions. Isn't it strange that Americans can kill themselves with liquor or cigarettes but not with morphine. Legalize pot and morphine - let industry manufacture it and put a warning lable on it and 80% of the prison space will be empty. I am sure you are aware that most thieves steal to support their habit. If you want more prisons, make booze and tobacco illegal.

Think about this: Wouldn't it be cheaper for the DEA just to buy all the cocaine and morphine on the black market. When enforcement of laws costs more that the blackmarket income - then either legalize or buy.

But Americans love COPS TV. Watching them bash down doors in poor neighborhoods makes us feel good about our own empty little lives (i guess).

Besides - without illicit drugs, cash could not be laundered through the stock market. Here is a story and image of NYSE Chairman Richard Grasso with a FARC (leftist Columbian cocaine dealing) Commmander (picture at bottom of page):

How much money has congress sent to fight this guy in Columbia?

Look at the stock charts for Fannie Mae - someone is printing money - while we watch the birdie - our social structure is being demolished. Something funky is about to happen. I am learning how to make preserves and restablishing a relation with my red-neck cousins:).

The real crimes are committed by guys in suits and ties. We see them on TV everyday. We vote (or at least we think we vote) for them at elections.
