It's really hard to say. I personally like Netscape (although 3.0
kinda ticks me off sometimes). However, since MS likes to package all
of it's software to work together, they are tough to beat when you
only have one product. Take MS SQL server, for example. Is it the
best backend DB out there? Certainly not, but it is cheap and has a
whole suite of backend servers that attach to it (Back Office). It
will most likely dominate the market. Then, look at all of the
automation with Office and MS's development tools. Next, they are
integrating thier OS's with internet stuff (the new explorer that
will show files, drives, AND web sites).
What really scares me is, what happens when MS falls?

Maybe. Java annoys me because it takes too long to download. ActiveX
controls annoy me because I have to keep downloading the things (and
I may only use them once!). It's like Netscape plug ins. The only one
you really ever see is the Real Audio plug in, and even then not that
much. I want infomation and/or entertainment fast, I don't want to
keep downloading and installing junk all of the time. This
lack of standardization could destroy the web.
All of this ranting is, of course, IMHO. (s)
