It is not clear to me whether you need to automate this from VFP.

IrfanView (www.irfanview.com) is a freeware that can do batch conversion. It is also excellent if you simply want to view images.

I am not sure if it accepts command parameters; such a feature in this software, or a similar one, might help for controlling it from another application.
