Mike,
Is this a known problem? I only use table buffering in my current work, but that has not always been true. This problem came to light when a new associate [new to VFP] asked me why a delete was effective even when no table update was called. I realized I did not know the answer and we began to experiment. We we both surprised to find such a big difference between the way row and table buffering worked.
A problem is a problem only as long as it has a possible solution. Lacking that, it becomes a FACT!
