Has your manager given you a reason why (s)he wants to convert the app to C#?
Are you trying to gather information to convince your manager to change her/his mind?

Now lets assume that you are going to convert the VFP app to C# (you have no other choice). In general C# is a great language for desktop apps. (I am not saying that C# is better than VFP and I am not saying that C# is not better than VFP <bg> and don't read between the lines <s>).
C# is good for database applications and I think it will be even better with version 2.0 (again I am not saying wether it will be better than VFP or not <bg>)

I would recomend reading the .NET book for VFP developers (that someone posted a link for. or you can buy it from HWP) first. I did not find the learning curve from VFP to C# that steep (but I was using C and C++ in college so that might have helped).
