Very shortsided emotional argument appearantly to bash VFP. The fact is that VFP is a mature tool to write desktop applications and data intensive middleware. I really don't understand why some people try to generalise and motivate people to ride any hype unless they have personal gains at stake. Sometimes I think it really is a 'head in the sand' attitude and those people are in denial and can't accept points we have been making long before MS finally confirmed them (LINQ). Sad......
OTOH, VFP in its current form eventually will ride the dinosour. I accept that .NET will outlive VFP. But there are so many apps out there that any VFP developper has the following options:
1. Stick with VFP and accepts its niche status, and rates will go up (like cobol progammers)
2. Learn a new tool to write the same software from scratch.
3. Move on with your carreer and search for opportunities that are related to your current skills (e.g. SQL Server consultant, data specialist, software arhcitect, etc)
4. Enjoy an early (or late) retirement
5. Become a lawyer :)
Personally, I'm busy with only one project that receives my full attention. It is VFP/SQL. It is my personal target to make this project a success. I strongly believe if this project is going to be a success it is because we offer way more flexibility than our compatitors. The reason we offer more flexibility is because we are writing in VFP.
