I always laugh at people that send in resumes with a list of technical skills that looked like they were taken from the bookstore shelf. They list every product they might have heard of as a skill.
Yes specialization is where it's at. We are actually in strange times though... we need to be specialists and generalists as well. General skills must include XML, SQL, COM, UML, database design, Architecture, not to mention specialized skills in products (Fox, VB.NET, C#, SQL Server, Oracle, etc.)
