I was thinking about the same for my application but I want to do it with folders instead of a dbf file. For example I'd have a folder named themes within my application home folder and inside that folder one for each icon set.

Not exactly an answer for your question, just an opinion.

Now I am thinking of putting all required icons and bitmaps into a standalone dbf file. The purpose would be that each record in this file could contain a different set of icons and I could then change the appearance of the app depending on which record I choose to get the icons and bitmaps from.

I'm a mixture of Albert Einstein and Arnold Schwarzenegger. The only trouble is that I got Einstein's body and Schwarzenegger's brain
