The problem is compounded because I am using an input mask and not requiing the user to use the enter key. So when the input mask is satisfied, the valid is called and, the first time, the amount is too large and I have not successfully ckeared the keyboard buffer (I used CLEAR TYPEAHEAD) and the next digits flow in and someymes satisfy the amount limit. Then the scanner's CRLF triggers my "ACCEPT" button and away we go.
I'm going to experiment with teh timimg of the keystrokes next.
