During the early 1960’s I traveled a great deal across the United States, thanks to the United States Air Force. I met many people and it did not take me long to know where someone was from based upon his/her accent. Today it is difficult to determine an Americans origin based upon accent. This has been attributed to television by a number of articles I have read.

It seems that everything is being outsourced these days, and I suggested that teaching would be outsourced to India. Who needs teachers? We have television and wideband technology to bring the teacher to the student!

Well, in yesterday’s newspaper I read that Silicon Valley is using teachers from India, as tutors.

President Bush’s no child left behind program offers 2 billion dollars of taxpayers money for this program. Imagine that? We are paying tax dollars to outsource education!

How do you like those telemarketing calls or service calls when the person you are talking to has a strong Indian accent? Many times it is difficult or impossible to understand such a person. Never fear! This could change in the near future as all our children might be exposed to teachers from India. Within a few years our entire nation could be speaking with an Indian accent!
