Ok, sounds right.

What I'm doing is creating an autocomplete textbox. Each time a character
is typed, I need to check the DB for near matches.

My fear is that opening a connection each time a character is typed is
going to be expensive, so in this case, I'd probably want to keep the
conn open.

What do ya think?
