PMFJI :) but "Enable/Disable acronyms" option is available for all members from the "Message view setup" menu which is in upper right corner of any viewed message.

>>I had to look up what PMFJI stands for. It is either very funny because this was your thread in the first place that I jumped in on or very polite (a lady is present). Either way, I like it.
>>
>>First a disclaimer, I going off of vague memory of both books and personal speculation of the authors. It has been a year since I read Les’s book and maybe two since I have read Kevin’s.
>>
>>Tracy expressed interest in seeing a VFP app and a .NET app that provide the same functionality. I suggested Les’s book because it does a series of VFP tasks in both VFP and VB.NET. I do not remember Kevin’s book doing this – here is how I would do it in VFP and this is how it can be done in .NET
>>
>>While it would be great if you and Jeff did this contest/demo/project, a less complex set of examples exist is in Les’s book. I’m not saying it is the best book out there.
>>
>>I would have been happy to have either book when I first looked at .Net and started my first .NET app. I am not going to pass judgment on which is a better book for a VFPer to learn .NET, I would suggest that they get both, Kevin’s is now free so it is like happy hour, 2 for 1.
>>
>>I have a lot of respect for Les, his book, and the way he has approached .NET and software development in general. My take is that he is not sold on .NET for technical or productivity reasons. I believe he has moved to .NET because he is following market demand. I could see Kevin, as the developer of a framework being more interested some of technical possibilities of .NET as well as the potential of a new revenue source based on developers moving from VFP to .Net. For me, both are valid reasons working with .NET.

>>>Patrick,

>>>PMFJI, and not to be argumentative, but check out Message #929846.
>>>
>>>Someone asked me about the book, which I've read cover-to-cover several times.
>>>
>>>As much personal and professional respect as I've always had for Les, it pains me to say that this is not a good book and gives out some highly questionable advice (which, sadly, has continued ). Kevin McNeish's book is much better.
