If there is any validity to the points made, and I think there is, then what should Jim do if he feels that nothing is changing? Just act all gung-ho and pretend nothing is wrong?
With all due respect, it is exactly the "whining" you describe that made changes happen about 2 years ago without which we would have been a real mess by now.
The question I have is: "why are people STILL raising the same complaints raised 2 years ago?" Has nothing really changed?

"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us."
