Some atheists say, "Thanks God I am an atheist."

This sort of exclamations ("Oh my God", "thanks God"), are deeply ingrained into the language, but they may be offensive not only to atheists, but also to some believers. I, for one, consider this kind of exclamation a disrespect for God, at least in some cases.

Alternative exclamations? A search on "exclamations" will probably turn up quite a few. Here are a few I remember: "Jesus Christ" (similar religious connotations), "O gee" (also derived from "Jesus"), "sh...t", "holy "sh...t", "shoot" (obviously derived from the former), "crap", "Oh my", "damn it", "what a mess" or "what a disaster" (less nonsensical than many other exclamations), etc.
Difference in opinions hath cost many millions of lives: for instance, whether flesh be bread, or bread be flesh; whether whistling be a vice or a virtue; whether it be better to kiss a post, or throw it into the fire... (from Gulliver's Travels)
