But surely, Brett, as litigious as your society is, you cannot be saying that this "idea" is a good thing?????

What about cars?... What about drugs?... What about cigarettes?... What about the use of lead in a product harming children's brains?

There are far far too many law suits in the U.S., that's for sure. But the GOVERNMENT is supposed to be out to protect/help/grow THE PEOPLE and not the corporations!!!!!!!

I suspect I wouldn't be too far off to estimate that if every dollar and "tax break" given to corporations in the last 5 years was given equitably to THE PEOPLE, everyone would be a millionaire in the U.S.

The PEOPLE, Brett, the PEOPLE. That's what government is there to embellish the lives of, not the corporations.

>>In a word, yes. But that wasn't really my point. My point is why should this one particular industry be inoculated against lawsuits? To me this shows our political system at its worst -- ruled by money and connections. The NRA might be the most powerful lobby in Washington.

>This is the start of industries being protected against lawsuits. You just found out that gun manufactures are protected, but did you know that a bill is in the processing of being passed that protects places like McDonalds from being sued also. I think this is being done to clean up the courts from some very frivolous lawsuits. Guns like hamburgers are lawful to make and to sell. You will see other industries being protected against lawsuits in the future.

>I am working on my case against M&M’s; they have been killing me slowly for years now. So don't I deserve some compensation for what they are doing to me? I mean I have no control over what I am doing right? At least that seems to be what society seems to think. No one has personal responsibility for anything they do.

>Just my two cents.
