>I am working on my case against M&M’s; they have been killing me slowly for years now. So don't I deserve some compensation for what they are doing to me? I mean I have no control over what I am doing right? At least that seems to be what society seems to think. No one has personal responsibility for anything they do.
While the whole idea of those so-called "frivolous" lawsuits was ridiculous to me, when I come to think of it, they started making sense in a way. What I don't get is how few thousand people in a class action get reimbursed a few dozen bucks, while their lawyers get a few dozen grand (or a few hundred).
Assume your emenems were sweetened with aspartame, and at some point the FDA decides that aspartame is a damaging substance (which I think it is). And the fact turns out that both the manufacturer of the candy and of the aspartame knew it for a long time. Should they be held accountable in that case? How does immunity protect from "frivolous" lawsuits only? It's immunity. No lawsuits at all, period. We can do what we want, so sue us if you can.
