Tracy, I wrote and marketed my own small-office legal billing system in xBASE-oriented code for over ten years. I have one in FPD 2.6 that is very lightweight, works fine, does everything you requested and more. I've been updating it to VFP/SQL as my copious free time permitted (read: slowly) for awhile. If you'd like, I can send you the DOS code along with what I've done on the conversion so far, and you can tell me if it's something that I should "hurry up on" for your friend (been wanting to find an excuse to finish the fool thing anyway -g-).
>Anyone seen a small simple VFP app for a lawyer's office? It basically just needs to handle a customer profile, cases by customer, transaction listing, docket schedule, and receipts. Also the ability to assign a customer/case to a lawyer and a field for each case for payment code (payment made to the office or to the lawyer directly) etc. A friend of mine is still doing everything manually and I will write something myself if necessary, however I assume this has already been done. I would rather avoid having to support a system (even a lightweight simple one) for a friend though if possible so I was hoping there was an inexpensive one available already that I could recommend.
