Are you looking at one table, or more with this grid? If more then one table, look at the buffering or how you open the tables.

You can not assume anything when you are changing the way grids start out. For one thing, textboxes have a controlsource, while labels have only the caption. Why don't you just keep the grid the startting way, and make the specific cells readonly depending on the data?
