John,
I just hijacked this message because I knew you were associated with the VS project. I googled to here (you are here too!)
http://blogs.msdn.com/vsdata/archive/category/3901.aspx because I am dealing with some PRG class definitions and trying to avoid a VCX. This thread list caught my eye because the google index had the phrase "vfp8 does not require class libraries".
My projects use DEFINE CLASS to initailly subclass the OCX and then ADDOBJECT to add them to the form. I found a workaround using newobject:
http://www.kbalertz.com/kb_192693.aspxBut the demo is a PRG form. NewObject worked and added an OCX (to the PRG form) from a DEFINEd CLASS. But I could not get NewOBject to do the same with SCX.
So is it true that "VFP8 does not require class libraries" - or am I spinning my wheels and should I resolve myself to the tedium of a VCX?
Or is there something in the kbalertx demo I can tweak so my PRG classes can be added to my SCX forms?
Thanks
