I would caution against changing the parameters in your class hierachy. Instead of programming to an interface, you are now programming to an implementation. You are far better off keeping the messaging constant. So, even if a super class will only use 1 parameter - create 2 if that is what will be needed.
In VFP 6, when you subclass, the parameter statements are already created for you in the subclass methods.
