How can I know wether an API handle still exists ?

In GDIPLUS.DLL sometimes I use the function GDIPDELETEGRAPHICS, or GDIPDELETEFONT, or any other for clearing a handle, but if GDIPLUS's main handle was "closed", the other handles no more exist.

How can I know if a handle is still in use ?
