Cable lenght has a factor too. If it too long, the signal will degrade. Also, make sure that the cable does not run near any electical sources.

Once, a client of mine was complaining that his computer network was failing all the time. When I investigated it, I discovered that in a closet he had a large roll of network cable. I ask him if I could remove the roll from there. He told me it was hook to the server. I ask then, why? Well it turned out that he had hook one end to the server and other end to the router. There was nearly 400 feet of netwrk cable there. I cut off 4 feet of it to use correctly, and the problem went away.

Sometimes, the jobs solve themselves.
