The only issue I can think of would be if you have a remote view that has querryed a record, and another user was editing that same record via the direct table at the same time...that would probably cause a problem when the user tried to tabelupate() the view.

Yes you can do it this way - but like I said above, you need to be carefull. You do not want someone editing the same record via a table and via a view at the same time.
