In XP open the printer and faxes window, then select File | Server properties - perhaps there had been some adjustments in this area that the upgrade hosed. I have dealt with sim,ilar issues and they are not related to the driver, but to the 'form' setup in the printers area.

You might want to compare with a machine in which they work properly.... This is a hidden area and applications thjemselves install or modify these settings.
