I see two approaches:
You may use an expression in ControlSource property with some logical functions like ICASE() or IIF() to diplay a value from selected field. But the column will be read-only in this case.
If you want to edit values you may process the Valid or LostFocus event to save the edited data to the proper field.

/If there are some "system programmers" then others are unsystematic.
