I thought I remembered an ENCRYPT fuction for DBFs - but VFP help did not bare that out. In XP, desktop and folders can be password protected. Also look at the property sheet for XP files. There is an encrypt feature in the "Advanced" section. I don't know how it works - make sure you have backups before experimenting.

There is also a "Password Dialog Box Foundation Class" in VFP HELP that may help you.

Desk top security in XP is pretty tight. Why is it important to protect your tables? What is the threat?
