Just because you are not useing VFP's data control features does not mean you are not using VFP's features. Even if you went to a full business object model or ADO access, VFP still gives you a greate OOP front end to create the apps with.
You can also take the approch of combining the feature sets. Ken Levy wrote some classes to convert ADO record set to fox cursors and vice versa. You can now use ADO technolgy along with Fox.
BTW - I think this approach fits in very well with the three tier models that Microsoft is pushing now a days. You create business objects in MTS and bind your controls to those business objects (or maybe a local go-between object), and presto - three tier. Easy <g>!
