I think a lot of this comes from the fact that a significant amount of time needs to be spent on learning a new development language. I think this often gets overlooked. Being able to program in VFP/FB/whatever is a whole lot different than being proficient in it. I've written a few small apps in VB, but I still would hardly call myself a VB programmer.

I don't want VFP to die because I'm spending a not-so-insignificant amount of time learning it. I expect to have to move to some other language as my primary development tool at some point. I'm just hoping it's later, rather than sooner.
