We allow users to edit reports in our app. Starting with VFP8, in the VFP design environment, if you go into tools..options, click the report tab, and check the "Use DBC field captions" checkbox, then when you drag a field onto a report from the data environment a label is automatically added to the report along with the field. If you uncheck the "Use DBC field captions" checkbox, then the label is not added.

Checking the "Use DBC field captions" checkbox sets the following value in the registry for VFP9.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VisualFoxPro\9.0\Options\RptUseDBCCaptions = 1

Whereas unchecking it sets this value to 0.

The problem is that when editing a report in the VFP run time environment for VFP8 or VFP9, when you drag a field onto a report from the data environment the label is automatically added to the report along with the field regardless of this setting.

We of course have a user that doesn't like this behavior; they don't want the label added automatically. My question is, does anyone know of a way to get the label to NOT be added when using the report designer in the VFP8 and VFP9 run time environment?

It should be noted that we use free tables in some of our reports so these wouldn't be affected by any DBC settings, however, if fields belonging to DBC's get dragged onto the report the caption will be the same as the field name if no caption is defined in the DBC.

Thanks............Murray
