There is a good recipe for a civil war in Iraq. I do not think it will happen immediately though. Wait until the Sunni insurgents who have penetrated the Iraqi army and police increase in numbers to a point that justifies war.
The Israelis did something similar during World War II. They lived in peace with the Palestinians but wanted a free state. So they joined the British Army, received training and stole weapons. Then the war with Palestine began. Obtain training, logistics and supplies and then war.
With such high unemployment in Iraq, the military or police force is a possible means of gaining work. The Iraqi military and police force has many “volunteers” who are Sunni and were militia fighting the Alies and Iraqui's up until recently. Sunni rigious leaders have instructed them to “join up”.
>I think it very much matters. Because it gets to the root of the problem. There are several issues that many voiced before the invasion that were never addressed, or even worse pushed aside and the person who voiced the opinion minimized.

>At the core, it was stated by many experts that with the cultural makeup in Iraq, there was a far, far, far greater chance that whatever we did would create a major civil war, rather then establish a democracy.

>What's the death toll today? I definitly think we are closer to a civil war then a democracy.
