Which war would that be? Between which countries? If you mean the Iraq war, it's not a war at all. It's an internal insurgence in Iraq, which happens to have USA-led government and aid. Same goes for Afghanistan, which also has a friendly government.

If you allow for this sort of exception, don't ever go to a vacation abroad. Actually, you aren't even safe at home - your religious activism may be understood as aiding any obscure Christian Fundamentalist organization which may be financially tied to... and you're gone, kidnapped by one country and imprisoned in another. They'll probably justify it by having to do things a little different in times of war.
