>When you try to shove something down someone’s throat it may not taste too good! My mom told me how good Castor Oil was for me, as she gave me a spoonful. That did not help the taste in my case! :)

I had to eat some disgusting things in my childhood, but thankfully (from everything I have heard) castor oil was not one of them.
One standard dish, because my dad liked it, was Spam loaf. Spam cut into slices and then baked with a thick honey glaze. I don't think even my dog, who will eat anything, would go near that one.
The most notorious came from a recipe my mom read. It was called ham puff. This consisted of ham chunks baked in an egg-based mix until the whole thing got crusty. ("Cook the daylights out of it" was the cornerstone of most of my mom's recipes). Euww. I feel a gag reflex just thinking about it. Fortunately, this was a once-only experiment which even my mom agreed "didn't turn out so well." It lives on only in reflexive laughs from my brothers and I at the mere mention of it.
Oh, and tripe also made regular appearances on our dinner table. I'm tellin' ya, I'm lucky to be here ;-)
