Hi Dirk,
>i like the idea and i did play with it all day
I tried a bunch of ocx-es as well. As for you, some work did out nicely. Others not. They may have a bit of additional work. The ocx integration is still very recent.
I tried their packagig facility as well (basically moving all runtime vfp*.dll into a 5,51MB compound MyApplicationDllThatIncludesAllVP9AndHideItAll.dll").
+2795K(60.8%) 'vfp9r.dll'
+ 306K(21.9%) 'VFP9RENU.DLL'
+ 312K(21.8%) 'vfp9rfra.dll'
+2228K(58.8%) 'vfp9t.dll'
total: 11216K in 4 files
package file size: 5778722 bytes (50.3% of original)
I was highly impressed by the significant compression ratio. It looks like the whole the vfp runtime is bundled into a unique shared dll.
Need to test extensively before deploying to customers. But that looks brilliant indeed, even without ocx integration:
-VFP is hidden ... no need to discuss your dev. tool,
-code protection thru strong encryption,
-a dead-simple user interface (took a a couple of minutes to guess).
Worth additional testing. I'll be back on the subject next week.
Franck
