Interesting question....I haven't tried it, so this is pure speculation....at best, you'd probably have to jump through many hoops. Project files have changed. I doubt you'd be able to build in the VS2005 IDE.

I agree, the VS2005 IDE is pretty enticing...again, this is speculation, but I would tend to doubt you'd be able to pull it off in any effective way.
