>>Whether you agree with the war or not, we're there. The concern now should be how can we make Iraq better

The easiest way would be to get the French involved IMHO. For various reasons.

Shame they were so thoroughly alienated before the invasion because they dared to suggest that there were no WMD. Right here on this board, a Frenchman was despised with certain members triumphantly repeating the "retreat monkeys" and the rest of it. IMHO there may well be a certain amount of satisfaction in some quarters that the predictable has occurred. But I still think the French would accept an apology and make a difference very, very quickly. Despite recent events, the French and US have been friends for a long time and it is in everybody's interest to see stability in Iraq in the next decade.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
"
