>>The good:
>>1) Its external USB (for me this is good anyway)
>>2) Comes with IR Blaster can transmit IR codes to control channel changing on your cable or satellite receiver so you can record TV shows on your PC.
>>3) Comes with remote control.
>>4) You can use ORB with it!!! (www.orb.com)
>>5) Only need 800mz P3 to run it.

>>The bad:
>>1) If you are going to use a Media Center XP machine, then this tuner will not work for ya. (ORB however, works will all Meidia Center XP machines)
>>2) Does not support HDTV
>>3) Since it's USB, if you were trying to use a USB Webcam to video chat and watch TV at the same time, there is a possiblity you'd run out of "USB BandWidth".

>Thank you for a detailed answer. But to me it seems a TV tuner is useless on a PC unless you have a cable or satellite. But if I have a cable or satellite, why would you want to watch tv on your PC? You can't do it and work at the same time. And if you just want to watch tv (during a break) you might as well get a PC for that. E.g.: I have a tv tuner built into my monitor but without cable or satellite I get no reception in the office.

You can resize the TV window to something small, so you can work and have a tiny pic of the tv screen in a seperate window. And yeah if you don't have cable or satellite, then yeah your only other option is some goofy looking rabbit ears type antenna.
The other cool thing is that you can make your PC a PVR (personal video recorder) - for example with my Media Center machine, if I want to record a show next week, I can do that with the built in TV guide. As matter of fact, I select to record something like "Miami CSI"... it will actually ask me "Reord the whole series?" - and schedule to record every time the show comes on that channel automaticly.
Plus the ORB thing is neat. I have one of those pocketpc/cell phones - so I can be staning in line at the store and use my pocketpc and get live TV streaming from my home machine...I can even switch channels and stuff. Kinda cool I can watch HBO, CNN, or whatever, from anywhere I get a cell phone signal...hehe
