>>>Sorry, doesn't wash. Hussein was a thug, pure and simple, and I'm sorry we played footsie with him at all. But our beef at the time was with Iran, not Iraq. When he decided to invade Kuwait, it was time to destroy the monster we helped create. If we had had the cajones to do it then, a whole lot more Iraqis would be alive today. As it was, we gave him a chance to straighten up, and he became even more of a monster.

>>Oh, so you do see your country as The World Police. Interesting. Any particular preference in choosing which monsters to prop and which to crush?

>Show me where I said I believe that the US is World Police.
Here: "we gave him a chance to straighten up", and "destroy the monster we helped create". Shows serious belief in your right to tell other countries what to do, create monsters to rule them, then destroy them etc.
> We had no business going into Somalia. Personally I didn't think we had any business in the Balkans.
Agree here.
>But Hussein was a threat to the US and its allies. THAT is what I've said, here and elsewhere.
What was the nature of this threat? I don't see how any individual country could be a threat to the US.
