There are a huge number of bad capactitors that have been used in PC motherboards. A company Nichicon stole an electrolyte formula from a competitor, but it was incomplete. Not knowing this, they used it to make tons of capacitors. These have been used by Dell, HP etc to make motherboards. Instead of lasting 7+ years, the components fail much quicker.
