Title:
Upgrading from an old version
I have an application that has Stonefield SDT embedded within it, I've no idea what version, but probably at least five years old. I own a version from November 2003. I have not used Stonfield since 2003, so I I'm very rusty with it.
1. If I upgrade to the [my] new version and copy the revised metadata, which has will have a different format to a end user using an old version of an EXE, will it be backward compatable? I'm phasing in a new version of an EXE to several thousand users, and they need to be able to continue use the old version of the software (built with the old version of SDT). The new version will be using Stonfield to upgrade the table stuctures.
2. Looking through my old install of SDT, the only documentation I can find is dbcxref.doc. But that does not seem to tell me how to install SDT in my application. Although the app already has [an old] SDT installed, there are obviouslly some differences in versions that are giving me run time errors. e.g. an error of 'CCMSG_RETRY is not found' - that's defined in dbcxmgr.h, so somehow it does not find it.
I'm using VFP 7 right now, but will be changin to VFP 9.
