Say, do you send copies of each and every message to each and every participant in the thread? Most participants prefer to decide for themselves whether it is worth-while to follow a thread or not.

It still makes sense for individual messages, like (in the case of technical content): "thanks to all for your participation", or "this turned out to be the solution to my problem".
