In the case of VFP 6, I copied the required DLLs into the same folder as the executable, and it worked. In the long term, this turned out to be impractical, since I needed to access several copies of the executable, in different folders.
I don't know whether this approach would still work with VFP 9.
Also, that was a basic installation; another reason why I needed to use the Setup Wizard (VFP 6) eventually was to provide access to more advanced features: installing some ActiveX controls, and providing support for CHM help.
Currently, I have a setup file, to install some basic executable. I use calc.exe; the setup wizard insists on specifying an executable!. However, the reason to use this setup program is to give access to: the runtimes; CHM help; required ActiveX controls.
Once again, I am not sure how to adapt this idea to VFP 9.
