>>And, I thought I was badly dressed. I come to work in old blue jeans and a t-shirts. And thats a norm for most around here. Man, I love the IT world!

>Up until 5 years ago, I wore a shirt, tie and khakis to work. Now I am in a more technical environment and have ditched the tie. Much more comfortable.

I worked for a large publishing company from early 80's to early 90's. When I started they were in New York City and shortly thereafter moved to Orlando. The dress code was very NYC, jacket and tie. It stayed that way all the time I was there (with the introduction of "Casual Friday" some time in the late 80's.

I did some hardware support on the old IBM PC's and ruined more ties than I should have before I started either taking it off or tucking it into my shirt.

Shortly after moving to Orlando, I ditched the jacket. At first I wore it in to and out of the building and hung it on a hanger in my cube. I then just left it on the hanger permenantly on the off-chance I would ever meet with an executive where the jacket was a requirement. That never happened and when they finally let me go there was a two inch (perhaps I embellish slightly) layer of dust on the shoulders.
