Marcia:

As usual you are absolutely right. The grid was using a temporary data file. After I had copied my new code under a new button, I realized that the code I put in was using the same dbf file as the grid file. So I used a new temporary file for the code and this solvbed the problem.

Where I had experienced the problem in the past was where I had to use another file exclusively (possibly I did not put it in 0), the grid would fall apart, so thats where the loop came in.

Anyway, Marcia all is fine except that my web host provider has flown the coop so I am now looking for a new company to host me. I had some West-wind Web Connect stuff up there, but I think I know enough about it now it to get it working on a regular web host.

Hope all is fine with you. I am not doing as much stuff as I used to. Trying not to start anything new, just holding together what I have. I do have one really interesting project, its actually a game - I will tell you more about this if I ever get it off the ground.
