IIRC airliner doors open inwards. In flight, at cruising altitude internal cabin pressure is higher than outside the aircraft; it would take a great deal of force to open the door inwards against that pressure differential.

That's assuming the door locking mechanism could be opened at all, that it wasn't disabled from the cockpit during the flight.
