The fact that we can see the results of His work doesn't mean that we can understand Him. It seems quite logical to assume that God, as the creator of the Universe, can not be part of it, must needs be superior to His creation, and can not be understood by His creation (at least, not entirely). As a comparison, take the relationship between a painter and his painting.
