Mark,

I don't understand why the President and Vice-President and most others in the administration can make any kind of issue about this, yet they seem to be succeeding! What am I missing here?

A very large majority of the Senate voted in favour of giving the President the power to go to war with Iraq if/when conditions warranted, based on the information they were given. That information came from "the Administration", as all such information does.

Now many of those same Senators who voted in favour of giving the President that power - mostly democrats but some republicans also - are saying that the information on which they based their decision to vote in the affirmative was not only "flawed", but appears to have been carefully selected, cherry-picked and included, even when in many cases insiders warned that some of it was not credible. It may be crass to call it lying, but it has all the appearances of lies.
So what does it matter if the Senators voted on the same material that they are now calling fabricated? Does that mean that the Senators are stupid or does it mean that they were duped or...?

When my kids were young I would permit them to do some things based on what they told me. Sometimes I said yes and later found out that I had been lied to so that they would get a yes out of me. When I found out in time, I reversed my decision and gave them royal hell for lying in the first place. Are there different rules for politicians?

cheers

>I am not denying what the Admin said and neither is the Admin. The Dems are denying (revising) they said or agreed with the very same things in the speeches they gave on the floors of Congress before they voted to APPROVE the use of force.

>>Are you not going to search for WMDs after telling the world that Iraq has them? Of course you search, and these guys hoped to find something to validate their claims. The administration said they KNEW when they didnt know.

>>RUMSFELD: We know where they are.
>>McCLELLAN: This is about an imminent threat.
>>FLEISCHER: We know for a fact that there are weapons there.
>>CHENEY: Simply stated, there is no doubt that Saddam Hussein now has weapons of mass destruction.
