John,

Seems to me that Isreal has nuclear weapons, also known as "weapons of mass destruction". Could it be that they could defend themselves against Iran (or whichever else country might have similar 'ambitions' as Iran's leader proclaims)?

Did they not already do so (defend themselves) against Iraq itself?

Why, then, would the U.S. feel any obligation to do the job on behalf of Isreal?

...curious in Canada

>>If I remember correctly, the U.S. had hinted at this possibility - that the weapons were already moved somewhere else.
>>
>>I guess this means that the U.S. will, er, "liberate" Iran, Korea, Syria, etc., next, in the quest for the WMD.

>It would be nice if everyone in the world would just "all get along." That has never happened, so one has to believe it never will. If that is true, then it behooves us to be prepared for armed conflict, or even long range nuclear attacks. This guy in Iran is dangerous and bears watching, as do the other countries you listed.

>A major U.S. intelligence review has projected that Iran is about a decade away from manufacturing the key ingredient for a nuclear weapon, roughly doubling the previous estimate of five years, according to government sources with firsthand knowledge of the new analysis.

>VIENNA, Austria - The U.N. atomic watchdog agency revealed Friday that Iran received black market nuclear designs that diplomats say appear to be blueprints for the core of a nuclear warhead — a finding expected to used by Washington and its allies in their push to have Tehran referred to the U.N. Security Council.

>A senior U.S. diplomat called the development disturbing, and other diplomats accredited to the International Atomic Energy Agency said they expected it to be used against Iran at the IAEA's 35-nation meeting next week.

>The revelations also came as Iran said it had begun converting a second batch of uranium into gas, a step that brings it closer to producing the enriched uranium used to either generate electricity or build bombs.
>
>And finally the most disturbing thing about Iran's new president . . .

>Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was speaking to his own nation’s youth, the next generation. He said what his generation has always believed, that is, that Jews must be killed. He stated that the state of Israel, founded on May 14, 1948, must be "wiped off the map." In other words, all Jews must be slain. That is the typical degradation given to Jews by Muslims. Jews are referred to as "Jew-pigs and descendants of monkeys." With this tirade coming from the top and going to the youth, it can hardly be believed that the Roadmap to Peace is going anywhere but into the black hole of history. Iran’s President said that "anybody who recognizes Israel will burn in the fire of the Islamic nation’s fury. . ."
>In other words, America in particular is right up there with Israel for being wiped out. If Israel has to go, the US must go as well as any other nation that backs Israel.
